Transforming The Silo

The 17-storey silo is the largest industrial building in the redeveloped neighborhood Nordhavn in Copenhagen. It has been transformed from a grain container into “The Silo”, accommodating private housing and public functions. The facade consists of sheets of galvanized steel, providing the building with a distinctive unevenness and industrial character, which complement the materiality of The Silo and the monolithic concrete construction. The new facade’s bright surface enhances The Silo’s monolithic character, as a bright landmark and icon of the harbor. The different angles of the faceting reflect the light in a dramatic and dynamic way.
