Design in the Anthropocene Age: The role and tools of the architect

With a rapidly growing population and middle class, and at the same time rising temperatures and mass extinction of biodiversity, the problems are great and this places new demands on the architect. Rather than being a barrier, it can be used as a creative leg up that enhances concrete solutions and value creation. Drawing on Danish design heritage as well as contemporary practice, the paper highlights how we can combine tradition and innovation to create value for people within planetary boundaries.
